4-Week Pottery Wheel Course

4-Week Pottery Wheel Course Details

  • Our classes are paced for beginner adults, however, we will allow mature 12 year olds and up. All classes begin promptly, we ask that you arrive 5 minutes early and be ready to start at 6:00 sharp. Please bring a towel for your lap and an apron if you wish. For your safety, please leave jewelry at home, and long hair must be tied back.
  • Everything will be provided for you: clay, tools, supplies, glazes and 2 firings, and of course awesome instruction.
  • Weeks 1-3 you will learn to throw a variety of forms on the wheel and make your own pottery from wet clay. After your pottery is fully dried and has successfully gone through the first firing, on week 4 you will glaze the pieces you made in weeks 1-3. Then leave it with us to return to the kilns for a second firing. You may pick up all of your finished pottery 2 weeks after the final firing.

Additional Notes about the Pottery Wheel Course

  • We strongly recommend taking our one-time introductory class before committing to the 4 week course. We are unable to refund or reschedule missed classes, as they are progressive and run in a series of classes. The one time introductory classes are held every Saturday morning at 10AM sharp, and your pre paid reservation is required. The introductory class is foundational and will be extremely beneficial for you to continue to the 4 week course. Please refer to our page about the one time classes and for more information, or click here.
  • It is important to understand, while most or all of your thrown pottery will be successful, there is a very small possibility not all of your pieces may be viable for firing. The realistic expectation is that there is a very slight chance a piece may crack during the drying process or during firing. This is through no fault of yours, or ours. Should you experience this, there are no remakes or refunds since this element is just part of the learning process and the nature of wet clay and kiln-firing.
  • As a bonus, current students of our 4 week course are welcome to come in between their scheduled classes to practice, provided the room and wheels are available. Please call ahead to confirm. If you wish to practice, please note no instruction is available and staff is not able to assist or help you. This is strictly meant for you to practice solo what you have previously learned. We will provide you with 1.5 lb of clay for practice, and if you create a viable piece, and wish to keep it, there is a $11 firing and glazing fee. If not, we will recycle your clay. Please call a head to schedule practice time.
